Enjoy fast turnaround, careful workmanship and consistent results every time.

Badminton String-Type Overview

  • Repulsion/Power Strings – Thinner gauges for a lively, fast response and quick shuttle acceleration; best for attacking players.
  • Control/Feel Strings – Textured or stiffer coatings for precise placement and bite on drops and slices.
  • Durability Strings – Slightly thicker gauges built to last under heavy hitting or off-centre contact.

Badminton String Guide

  • Gauge (thickness): ~0.61–0.70 mm. Thinner = more repulsion/feel, less durability. Thicker = more durability, a touch less zip.
  • Repulsion/Power: Very thin strings feel lively and fast off the string bed — great for big smashes and quick counters.
  • Control/Feel: Textured or firmer constructions improve bite for net play, slices and tight drops.
  • Durability: Slightly thicker or tougher jackets reduce notching and breakage if you hit hard or off-centre.

Recommended tensions (guideline):

  • Beginners / casual: 18–22 lbs
  • Intermediates: 22–26 lbs
  • Advanced / competitive: 26–30 lbs (check frame limits)

Tip: A 1–2 lb change is noticeable. If you’re between sizes, start lower for comfort and raise slowly.

Choosing Your Badminton Restring – FAQs

What string tension should I choose?

String tension depends on your playing style. Lower tensions (20-23 lbs) provide more forgiveness, while higher tensions (24-28 lbs) offer more power potential for experienced players. If you’re unsure, we can advise on the best tension based on your level and preferences.

What types of strings do you offer for badminton rackets?

We offer a selection of strings, including popular options for durability, control, and power. We focus on best in class Yonex strings to ensure that you're happy with the quality of our service and more important your performance on court.

Can you help me choose the right setup?

We are happy to help! Simply contact us, and we can recommend strings and tension based on your playing level, style, and personal preferences.

How often should I restring my badminton racket?

A good rule is to restring as many times per year as you play per week. For example, if you play twice a week, aim to restring at least twice a year.

Can I provide my own strings?

We offer a range of top-quality strings for you to choose from, but if you have a specific string you prefer, you’re welcome to bring them along with your racket, and we’ll string it to your specifications. Simply message us and we can make arrangements for this service. The cost of restringing your racket with provided strings is £20 per racket.

How long does the process take?

Typically, your badminton racket will be ready to collect within a day or two. A same day service can be scheduled by appointment only. During busier times of the year the turnaround time may be a little longer.

Can I send my racket to you in the post?

Yes of course. We also provide a postal badminton restringing service.
